DaVinci Roofscapes, one of the industry's most respected manufacturers of composite roofing systems, officially discontinued its Bellaforte line in May 2023 after homeowners and contractors began noticing cracking at the shingle tabs in certain conditions. These cracks can spread over time, leading to leaks, interior water damage, and — in some cases — premature roof replacement.

We still believe in and install DaVinci Roofscapes products, and we stand behind them as always. This is only an issue with the Bellaforte line of shingles.

From the ground, most Bellaforte roofs look perfect. Up close, the same patterns of tab cracking show up again and again. Every finding gets photographed for your records.

Cracked shingle tab

A dark fracture opening at the corner of a tab — the signature Bellaforte failure. Once a tab splits like this, water works underneath it in the next freeze-thaw cycle.

A crack running clean through the shingle. What starts as a hairline separation opens into a full split, letting moisture reach the deck below.

We installed Bellaforte Slate roofs across Omaha during wood-shake replacement projects in the 2010s. At the time, it was considered a premium composite system that met even strict HOA requirements. Long-term performance has since revealed unexpected challenges with the shingle's design.
